CORPUS CHRISTI MOVEMENT FOR PRIESTS
“Let us all together with Jesus fill the world with His love through our works of love – especially may the Corpus Christi Movement inflame the love of Christ throughout the world. Let us pray: Mary, Mother of Jesus, be a Mother to the Corpus Christi – help us all to be holy.” (Mother Teresa of Calcutta)
“Jesus loves His priests very much and wants them to grow in holiness by living the priesthood to the full – this simple way will help very much. Let us pray and ask Our Lady to take care of them as she did of Jesus.” (Mother Teresa of Calcutta)
The Corpus Christi Movement for Priests is an international association for
diocesan priests founded by Mother Teresa and approved by the Holy See.
Priests are invited to spiritually share in the charism and spirit given by God to
the universal Church through Mother Teresa. This is to be lived in the context
of their own priestly ministry and vocation.
HISTORY:
APOSTOLATE:
The movement seeks to promote holiness among secular priests in the exercise of their ministry in close union with their respective bishops and with the members of their proper presbyterate.
Brother priests are invited to spiritually share in the charism and spirit given by God to the universal Church through Mother Teresa of Calcutta and the Missionaries of Charity. This is to be lived in the context of one’s own priestly ministry and vocation by:
• the daily celebration of the Eucharist and prayer in Eucharistic Adoration;
• having a special closeness to Our Lady, Mother of the Church and Mother of priests;
• supporting each other as brother priests, one-to-one or in small group meetings for prayer and fraternity retreats and seminars.
This “simple way” (Mother Teresa) will help priests grow in holiness by living the priesthood to the full.
SPIRITUAL ADOPTION:
Members are spiritually adopted by religious sisters, just like the priests were adopted by St. Therese of Lisieux. Non-members priests can also be adopted.
