Kolkata: Sisters at The Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata celebrated the 110th birth anniversary of Mother Teresa Wednesday by holding prayers and distributing food to the poor.

This is the first time that food was distributed from the Mother House, the order’s headquarters, on her birthday because of the extraordinary times and difficulties faced by the underprivileged due to the lockdown. Due to a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases, biweekly lockdown is still in place in West Bengal.

Various centres under the charity have been distributing lunches during the entire lockdown period, starting in March.
