Details about Mother Teresa’s Tomb
The tomb is on the ground floor of one of the three buildings that comprise the Mother house of the Missionaries of Charity, an international religious congregation founded by Mother Teresa in 1950.
The Mother house has been the home to Mother Teresa and her Sisters from February 1953 to the present. It is here that the Mother lived, prayed, worked, and it is from this headquarters that she guided her religious family spread across the world.
Besides being a Mother house (Generelate) of the Missionaries of Charity, with a large number of professed sisters, to the present day this building is also a Novitiate, that is, a house of formation for the candidates to the order.
